Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Hi.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Hello.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): You disappeared.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Yeah. Yeah. Um -- I had to leave. I didn't want to disturb.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): How have you been?
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Fine, fi ne. Everything much the same. When they change the law, Spike and I will marry immediately. Whereas you, I've watched in wonder. Awards, glory.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Oh, no. It's-- It's all nonsense, believe me. I'd no idea how much nonsense it was, but... nonsense it all is. Well, um -- Yesterday was our last day of filming, so... I'm leaving.
But, um -- I brought this for you from home, so I thought I'd give it to you.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Thankyou. Shall I--
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Oh, no, don't open it now. I'll be embarrassed.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Well, thankyou. I don't know what it's for, but thanks anyway.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Actually, I had it in my apartment, and I thought you'd --
But when it came to it, I didn't know how to call, having behaved so badly. Twice. So it's just been sitting in the hotel. Then you came and... I figured -- The thing is -- The thing is--
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): What ? What is the thing ?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): ... I have to go away today, but I... wondered if I didn't... whether you might let me see you a little, or... a lot, maybe. See if you could like me again.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): But yesterday that actor asked you who I was, and you just
dismissed me out of hand. I heard. You had a microphone. I had headphones.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): You expect me to tell the truth about my life... to the most indiscreet man in England ?
...
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Anna, look, um -- I'm a fairly levelheaded bloke, not often in and out of love. But, uh-- Can I just say no to your... kind request and, uh, leave it at that?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Yes.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Fine. Ofcourse. I --
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Of course. I'll just be going, then. It was nice to see you.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): The thing is, with you I'm in real... danger. It seems like a ... perfect situation, apart from that foul temper of yours, but... my relatively inexperienced heart would, I fear, not... recover, uh, if I was... once again cast aside, as I would absolutely expect to be. There are just too many pictures of you, too many films. You'd go and I'd be, uh, well, buggered, basically.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): That really is a real no, isn't it ?
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): I live in Notting Hill. You live in... Beverly Hills.
Everyone in the world knows who you are. My mother has trouble remembering my name.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Fine. Fine. Good decision. Good decision.
...The fame thing isn't really real, you know ?
And don't forget I'm -- I'm also just a girl... standing in front of a boy... asking him to love her.
...Goodbye.
Journalist: Anna, how much longer are you staying in the U.K., then?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): No time at all. I leave tonight.
Producer: Which is why we have to round things up now, so final questions, please. Yes. Lady there.
...
Journalist: The last time you were here, there were some fairly graphic photographs... taken of you with a young English guy. So, uh, what happened there ?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): He was just a friend. We're still friends, I think.
Producer: Yes. Gentleman in the pink shirt.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Yes. Miss Scott, are there any circumstances in which... the two of you... might be more than just good friends ?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): I hoped there would be, but no, I'm... assured there aren't.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): But what would you say if --
Producer: Sorry.Just the one question, please.
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): No, it's all right. You were saying ?
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): I was just wondering if, uh, it turnedout that this person, uh--
Journalist: Thacker. His name was Thacker.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): Thanks, thanks. I just wondered whether if... Mr. Thacker realized he'd been a daft prick...
and got down on his knees and... begged you to reconsider, whetheryou would, in fact, then... reconsider ?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Yes, I believe I would.
William Thacker (Hugh Grant): That's very good news. Um-- The readers of Horse & Hound will be absolutely delighted.
(Anna tells smth to her producer)
Producer: Right. Uh, Dominic, if you'd like to ask your question again?
Journalist: Yeah? Anna, how long are you intending to stay here in Britain?
Anna Scott (Julia Roberts): Indefinitely.
